Community Building
The Australian Rohingya Women’s Development Organisation works with Rohingya women, children and families in the Greater Sydney Area. ARWDO is addressing issues related to isolation and marginalisation of Rohingya women. As well as systemic disadvantage caused by statelessness, temporary refugee protection visas, bridging visas and community detention.
ARWDO support Rohingya women who are experiencing financial hardship, social isolation, domestic violence, housing stress, barriers accessing services, among others.
ARWDO is dedicated to empowerment and are engaged in a wide range of frontline services including: free English classes, computer classes, health and education support, yoga, swimming classes, information sessions on beach safety, art classes, employment upskilling, domestic and family violence programs, and refugee settlement.
Meeras Pavilion
Meeras Pavilion is an interactive public art installation celebrating Rohingya culture and connection. Co-designed through years of creative workshops with Rohingya communities and allies in Sydney, Malaysia and Kutupalong refugee camp. This was led by members of the Creative Advocacy Partnership, Médecins Sans Frontières Australia, and ARWDO. The work was exhibited at Customs House Forecourt with the City of Sydney in September 2025. The work is available for exhibition, please contact Amigo Amigo for further information
